Reliability of an Evinrude 130hp

Hi all. I'm looking @ purchasing a 1997 18' stratos fish and ski with a 130hp Evinrude (same year). I was just searching for a little information like ease of repair, most typical breakdowns, etc. Thanks for anything...

These V-4 motors are sturdy, reliable workhorses if they have been properly maintained. Get a marine mechanic to check it out if you're not comfortable with making compression test, etc. They're fairly easy to work on except for getting to the thermostats where theres not much room to get a wrench in.
