Its a darn strong tank too..
The gas was at the top of the tank to help show how much it expanded

I have a gallon of mixed fuel in the garage that I keep for the weed eater. Every once in a while it will go from a small rectangle to a swollen pill shaped tank for no apparent reason. I release the pressure and close the vent and it doesn't happen again for a long time.

Done that, got gas in the morning and didn't get it out of the truck till afternoon, closed the vent so it didn't splash on the ride home.

The tank was really really round and took a long time to bleed off.

Imagine if that were still hooked up to the engine, think the primer bulb would have balooned out?

The tank would not have balloned in the first place. The motor is not sealed. You also would have quite a bit more area (hose, bulb, etc.) to accomandate the increase pressure.

Someone should try this with diesel... maybe we can get enough heat & compression to make it go boom. And if the tank was hooked up to my boat, it probabily would have blew up the motor.
