I have a 1970 something Johnson 12 hp workhorse on a small 12 ft tunnel hull and I want to hook up remote engine controls. Is there a kit to connect the cables to the motor?? If so a part number please?
The gearshift is on the starboard side and the throttle is on the port side. In the gear shift handle there is a hole that looks like something just goes in and twists locks into position and on the throttle there is a little piece sticking up that a cable connects to with a snap or something to hold it on.
What do I do to make a connection? something is missing, pictures will help?????

Re: remote control connector

there are 2 on ebay. #4618950040 will need to replace cables. # 7595536812 cables only 8 ft but may be ok for a 12' boat. i assume you have a recoil manual start.

Re: remote control connector

I guess I was not too clear in my description.
I have the remote control and the cables, what I need are the connectors to connect the cable to the motor. The kit has some kind of brackets that connects to the motor into which the cable gets locked and allows the cable to move with the motor as it turns left and right. At the end of the each cable there are other pieces or parts that make the connection between my existing cables and the gear shifter and the throttle. I need the parts to make the final connection.

A model # may help.I don't see a 12hp listing,but a workhorse is probably a commercial model?

DHP
