Morning All,

Installed my new to me 1995 90/65 Mercury Jet Tuesday Night. Last night I was installing the remote throttle and when I put the bolt through the mounting hole on the throttle and went to attach it to the aluminum trim piece that covers the wires it sparked.... The ground wires inside the throttle box screw to the box then run back to the engine, i also checked for frayed wires in the throttle box that carry current but could not find any. Is that normal? I haven't had a chance to check the condition of the ground at the block, but that was my next thing to do (I ran out of light). Thoughts..?

Thanks, Rob

The ground at the block appears to be good. I'm thinking the next step is isolate the ground wires in the throttle control and see what happens. Any more thoughts? Or should I just fix it to the mount and use it?

I still think you have a engine/battery grounding problem.

THanks for the follow up. I am going to go through the entire system.
