Hello, My tach wasn't working so i thought i'd try to figure it out today. i started up the motor with water bunny ear thingies and she took right off but no tach, but i already knew that, one of the wires was loose so i tightened it. went to start the motor back up and it was totally dead, i checked the battery and that was fine, all leads seem fine but there was no response when i turned the key. is there a fuse or something within the remote control? it seems like i somehow shorted something. it is a 1974 johnson 70HP. so now i have two problems, good grief.

There should be a main fuse on the powerhead. It will look like a small plug harness but there will be a fuse inside. I think it is black.

theres also a neutral start switch in the controls.you may have wiggled one of those wires too much causing it to come disconnected.just a thought.
