Remote control

Can anyone tell me how to remove this remote from my boat. I am changing motors to a Yamaha and I need to remove the old Johnson remote.

I would guess a set screw or bolted thru the back.

Look on the bottom of the throttle handle for a set screw or opening for one. Sometimes you need to put the throttle into the 2 or 3 o clock position to get to the set screw, thru the opening in the throttle handle.

Failing that, a lot of times the throttle only button can be popped off.

On a side note. Sometimes universal controls are used. If your control is one of those, it may be compatible with Yamaha.

Thanks guys, I didn't think about a set screw, that makes a lot of sense. I did consider popping off the throttle only button but I didn't want to get too aggressive with it until I had done a little more checking. Thanks again.

Go on the old interweb, and look up how to remove a concealed throttle control box.
