I was able to get to the lake last weekend and work on things. The helm works very well. I have some minor tweaking to do to it, but I am happy with the results. My wok earlier paid off with the mock-up.
The challenge I am up against now is proper motor controls - shifter, cables, and linkages. Are there any recommendations any of you have on an economical way to do a remote shifter and throttle control? I would like to have a single lever like a normal boat but I am also considering making a dual lever shifter/throttle, but I am not sure what kind of cables to try to make work. I made some brackets for the throttle control so it wouldn't be too hard to retrofit something else with those brackets. Though, I am sure there is a proper "kit", its just near impossible to find one.
Another question I have is if there are any kind of "clamp" devices that would work on the side rails on the boat - such as an attachment for a canopy upright?
