Scott, My v8s have these kits too, and the filter kits are mounted on the MC exhaust manifolds. If I drain oil via the kits' included drain hoses, must I refill each oil filter as well as oil pans? My stb engine's kit has hoses that come out of block adapter (where oil filter use to be) and wraps on top of bell housing and is attached to the stb exhaust manifold via another bracket. In my opinion, hoses should have been routed under motor and not on top. Both of my V8s have vertical filter attachments connected to the outward exhaust manifolds. The stb motor has the longest hoses. I suspect that former owner designed this to provide more room between motors to access plugs, etc. The port motor's oil hoses only require about 2' of hoses since the oil filter is mounted on the port exhaust manifold which is near block adapter. The filter and attachment do take extra room. However, my concern is that if I drain oil, should I fill new oil filter with oil before attaching it. There has to be at least 4' of 1/2" hose between stb motor's oil filter and block adapter. I want to maintain prime. I have no idea, if former owner modified their motors' bypass valves. He is having medical issues so I cannot contact him. It has always been my understanding that oil filters have check (anti-drain) valves in their design to help maintain prime?
