Re: remove a shift cable from an Alpha One Gen 1 out drive

With a little variance - I did as you said, and no headway, however, I blocked up a bottle jack, placed a 2x8 between it, and the bottom of the upper unit, placed three 2x4's on edge between the top cap, and the gimbal housing, jacked it up (I think the rear end of boat was getting a little light in the trailer - LOL)and it finally broke loose! It did break off the end of the shift lever (not the shaft), but if I can't replace that, I have another gimbal housing that may fit. If not, I'll get another one. Between you, ktbarrentine, and the great videos from Eric 3.7 LX Alpha 1, the job got done. I would like to express my grateful thanks, to you guys. I could not have gotten this far without your help. I'll shoot some photos later, and post them. By the way, the gimbal bearing is still stuck on the shaft!
