I have a 6 hp Evinrude 6804B my 90 year old neighbor gave me. (1) I was going to clean out the caburator by taking out the drain plug but it will not come out. It is round. I tried PB Blaster and after waiting over night tapped it with a socket to help "shock" it. Does not move. I replaced the plugs and removed the gas/air adjustment screw. Sprayed in some caburator cleaner. Some small pices of dirt/carbon came out the air intake. (2) Does the "small screenFilter" need replaceing? Disconnected the gas pump and appears good but the connection to the tank leaks a small stream. Replace the air/gas screw and it started and I stopped it. The connection does not appear to be square at the metal tank. (3) Does this sound like "O" ring failure? It started to rain and that is rain on the tank. (4) How hard is it to replace the waterpump if needed?

fuel pump is a simple 2 bolt affair...remove and install new one if the old one is bad. OEM pumps are $100+ Amazon China pumps $25 some have had success some not. I have used several with no problems.
Pump kits are available

remove the carb to easy access to do a mandatory clean up ...see Leroy's

points, coils condensers, plug wires etc... need a look at if not full replacement. Cleaning the points should get you going ...condensers well they go bad after 30-40 + years.

there you go... that should keep you busy for a while... 6hp are great motors. test compression and decide to proceed with $$$$ investment.

check GC for water, 10 yards of mono wrapped on the prop shaft ...

probably a nice engine... old folks take care of things if he purchased it new !

:) ..... from smoky Canada
