removed boat motor, now what?

Just removed motor to replace transom, and not sure how to store it. It is a 1976 150hp merc. Pretty heavy!! I just have it kind of leaning against the wall. Is this okay, it seems pretty steady, just wanna make sure this wont damage the lower unit. I figured this was better than laying the motor on the ground on its side. thanks for advice.

How long is it going to be stored?<br /><br />I'd secure it to make sure it stays in place. Put something under the skeg (soft wood, cloth, foam).<br />Best practise would be to hang it like on a transom.<br /><br />If the storage is for extended period, a proper preventive service should be made.

So will it hurt the motor to be standing upright on the lower unit? It shouldn't take me more than probably two weeks at most. Hopefully anyway. Is this too long? Should I build it some sort of frame to hang off?

I personally would build something for the motor. It does not take long and will not hurt. I 'm not sure if it will damage the lower unit.
