**Removed the Carbs "Press In" Fuel Inlet Hose Fitting**

See Engine details at the bottom.

Guys I feel like an idiot but the service manual said to "remove the fuel inlet hose fitting" and discard the screen.

I am 99% sure I have rightly identified my carb as type "C" in the manual. I even bought a rebuild kit from marine engine.com that

used my serial and showed me a diagram that looks like a type "C". So I go to remove my fuel inlet. I put a adjustable wrench on

there and its pretty tight but it came out. I am now scared because its a "press in" fitting of some sort. Its not threaded at

all, its smooth with some little ridges cut into the last 1/8 inch as you press it in. I did not break it off nor does anything

look bent. I did notice a few very tiny shavings of brass come off as it was removed.

My questions --> can I just tap this one back in gently with a mallet? (I would really like to reuse it). Does it have to be

replaced? If I have to replace this can you help me find one? Marine Engine.com shows this part as threaded on my carb. Lastly,

does anybody know why mines not threaded?

Thank You in advance for any help. You guys are awesome!

Thanks for the tip about the manual.

You have any experience with these press in fittings? Are they re-useable?

Yes press it back in and move on. Those little "little ridges cut into the last 1/8 inch" are there to help keep it from turning or falling out. I don't think you'll have any issues if it fits nice and tight going back in. When you crank the engine again, just look for and seepage at that section. I really don't think you will though! JMHO.

I was really wanting to reuse it. I tend to over-think things but I just wanted to make sure it was a reasonable thing to do.

Thanks for your help.
