Hi,
I have a southern skimmer with a 50 hp Evinrude and a console which I am trying to remove from the boat. There are four obvious bolts that needed to be removed. I left the top two loose so the engine wouldn't fall off, but the damn thing is stuck tight. I am either not seeing the other bolts, or somehow this thing is glued on. I don't want to damage the boat. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What is the age of the motor? The newer bolt pattern is four 1/2" bolts arranged in a rectangle.

After time the motor will adhere to the wood transom, aluminum oxidation is most likly holding it.Try a pry bar with a wood block under it so you dont mar the transom up too badly.Does this motor have the stern bracket without the clamp screws? those 4 blots should be all that is holding it.

The most likely used silicon around the bolts when they installed the outboard, it is glued to the transom.. If you have a lifting bail or ring under the cowl attach a hoist to it and take up the slack. Remove the four bolts then using a pry bar between the top of the transom and the outboard pry upwards. She should pop loose.

Ok, the pry bar did the trick. It was silicon around the bolt holes and they popped right off once I started tapping the pry bar in.
Thanks Guys!
