Hi guys I need to swap trailers on my boats and I was hoping I could do this on the lawn in the backyard. The boats are
4.6m/15.5ft old fibreglass project boat with nice galvanized tilt trailer
4.2m/14ft aluminum tinny on crappy rusted homemade trailer
Both boats very light (particularly the tinny ie under 300kg) I have a mobile engine crane/hoist and floor jacks (but no blocks/stands) so the plan is to attach the hoist with a load leveler to both the rear transom hooks/handles and lift, then simply slide the trailer out forward from under the boat and lower the rear/hoist back down leaving the boat sitting on the lawn. I figure this will work but I'm concerned with getting the front of the boat off the trailer and down onto the lawn. Will the trailer winch provide enough support to stop the nose slamming down onto the lawn from the last roller or should I put cushions or an old tyre underneath to take the fall?
I hopefully have another tyre and could possibly support the boat under the noise with the hoist still supporting the rear. I'd rather have it on the lawn though than suspended by the hoist and a couple tyres (provided it won't damage the hull).
With the old fibreglass boat/tilt trailer I was hoping to simply tilt it down and ease it onto the grass at a safe angle the trailer is a lot lower than the other one It looks like I can just dump the boat onto the grass I'm just worried about damaging the hull though?
Any advice would be appreciated!! cheers
