Removing busted bolts (no heads) Merc Outdrive

I just picked up a replacement outdrive for my boat, a Merc I EZ-shift. The only problem with the new one is the top cover bolts have been snapped off. They all sit flush with the top of the upper housing. Sooo, what is my best option to get these bolts out to replace them?

Try these: "DRILL-OUT" BROKEN BOLT EXTRACTOR
These have a left turning drill bit. Most of the time, drilling will heat the broken bolt, and the bolt just backs out with the bit, no damage at all.
Just make sure you center punch the broken bolt.

Thanks guys, I had no ida these "Drill out" bits were out there. They sure look like they would work great. Luckily I found a local store that carries a version of these tools!

Ayuh,....

Something I've learned about using Easy-Outs,.....

Drill All the way thru the broke piece......
Not just deep enough to engage the Easy-Out....;)

Make sure you get the correct sized easy out for the size of stud you're removing. If you snap off an easy out due to being undersized or not drilling far enough into the stud, then you'll really be screwed. Worst case, you'd end up drilling out completely and having to retap if you have enough material to work with.

Before you drill pour some coke on the bolts let it sit for a hour or 2.

Than drill.
