removing decals

Anybody ever removed the side decals on a Lowe boat. Got 07 stinger and same has been a great fishing boat so far but I haved tired of the loud decals on the sides. Been told to use a hair dryer and go slow but this process was used on a fiberglass and not a painted boat.

Try a hair dryer first and then maybe a heat gun carefully if the hair dryer doesn't do the trick?
Also, maybe contacting Lowe first might be the best option?........Irv964

The BEST way to remove decals on an aluminum boat is a heat gun wearing a glove and a razor blade on an angle..it takes a while.Then you are stuck with the glue still on the hull..Just use paint remover to remove..it is quite a job.Hair dryers are a waste of time..

Providing it's not a painted aluminum boat...or you'll have a real mess on your hands. Using a hair dryer will work...idea being to soften the adhesive and gently pull of stickers...pull at sharpest angle you can. Don't heat too much or paint may come off with decal. Use goo gone afterwards to remove residue. If your boat is painted and has been exposed to sun for a while, you will see the outline of the decal. The paint under the decal won't have faded the same amount as the rest of the paint.

Do exactly what "Tiggy" discribed.....I removed all my decals on a new JK Jeep using his method.. no problem at all.

Agree with Tiggy, I remove vinyl logos all the time in my line of work. The warmer they are the more likely to come off all in one piece and not a bunch of tiny ones. Don't use any metal tools, a fingernail is the best thing to get it started and the heat gun with diffuser, just keep it moving and pull back at 180 degrees. I wouldn't use paint remover on a painted boat myself!

Goo-off or WD40 will help with the sticky residue, but it's still a pain.

using the heat gun on painted surfaces is not a problem as long as you dont get it too hot. if its too hot to hold the decal and work/peel it off then its too hot.
remove many decals stickers this way very easily, on cars, boats, snowmobiles, and other things as well.

if its really stubborn try using a plastic spreader or putty knife that way you dont scratch the paint.
