I've got an '81 25hp Johnson that I am wanting to pull the flywheel off of. Is there any trick to getting the nut off the flywheel without using an impact wrench?
Maybe a strap wrench? Just wondering what you have tried. Thanks!

What I've done is; put your wrench on there, and give it a good sharp smack (counter clockwise) with a mallet. Maybe two sharp smacks. A strap wrench would be the best way (I think) but, if you don't have one you may have to improvise something else.;)

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that out. I may have to end up getting a strap wrench to torque the nut back down when I'm done?? I've got to get the torque specs for the nut too.

You need a strap wrench and torque wrench to put it back on. Sorry, I don't know the torque spec.

Thank you for the info. I've got a repair manual, so I'll look for the torque specs in there.
