Well, i have been trying to get the intermediate housing out of the transom sheild for some time now, been using everything from coke to liquid wrench, as well as heating it with a torch, but nothing seems to be working, ive been pounding it to death, and it hasnt budged. Any secrets? or should i just keep up what i have been doing?

I would like to remove it to check the rubber rings, and so i can paint the sheild.

here is a pic, the first one came out easy... only spent about 20 minutes on it, second has been lasting me afew months(on and off)

If you look at the ring that you took the 6 bolts out of, you will see 3 more threaded holes (The threads are in the outer ring).
They are jack bolts that most of the time will release the ring from the flywheel cover. If not, I have drilled the ring to break the corrsion lock. Don't hit the transom shield when drilling. You already have one apart, Look it Over very carefully.

Well, i got it out, i had to drill/chisel the ring, I got the bolts extrememly tight by hand and nothing was moving, then hooked up the airpowered ratchet and it stripped the bolts out.

Its out now, just need to buy a new ring.

Thanks
