removing lower unit 25hp 1975 evinrude

I want to remove the lower unit of my outboard and the boat is in the water right now. Is it safe to remove the lower unit?? ie.. will oil pour all over the place if I do this? This may sound silly, but its better to be safe then sorry with this one. <br /><br />Thanks!

Welcome to iboats almost....<br /><br />No....oil won't pour out all over the place and the tree huggers won't jump in your stuff.<br /><br />But wouldn't it be easier to take the motor off the boat and do the job? Easy to drop a couple bolts into the briney deep.<br /><br />Keep postin'!
