removing lower unit 40hp 1987 evinrude

I need to replace water pump. I cannot find where to unhook shifter linkage to remove lower unit. HELP PLEASE.. Thanks.....Sam

On the stbd side of the engine there is a small hitch pin, pull it out, then push shift lever to port side, clevis pin will now separate from shift rod. Removing starter helps to see what is going on down there.
