the shift shaft is bolted together. trying to remember if the union is covered by a plate that bolts to the lower mounts or if you need to drop the g'box to see the union. its a 1/4" shaft with a 10mm tube nut and 10mm jam nut. right at the front of the gearbox.

hello
stuff it back up temporarily. look at the fwd edge of the exhaust housing. you will see a 10mm hex barrel nut with a 10mm hex jam nut just below it. hold the barrel nut and break the jam nut. then thread the barrel nut upwards to disconnect. try to mark how many threads the barrel nut came down for ease of reinstallation.
sometimes you have to shift into reverse or fwd to get the hex nut down low enough. its not like the 130:)

thanks guys you would think the bigger motor would be the pain to get apart huh? guess not

what would the motor run like if my lower crank case seal was leaking air into the number 3 cylinder figured i ask here another local mechanic says that may be my problem.

no matter what you did the cylinder wouldnt run right. some very odd link and sync to do on the yam 3's. make sure all of that is right first.
its a fairly straight forward job to re/re that powerhead if it is the problem.
