removing lower unit on 77' johnson 85hp

can get everthing lose but the stupid gear shift linkage. Can't tell where to unhook it from, or if it just takes a couple real good yanks to get it to come off. please help..

1st. Timer.,<br /><br />It's ALOT easier if you put the engine in reverse first.<br /><br />The shift linakge disconnect is located under the bottom carburetor. Just romove the bolt and the linkage shaft will slide out with the lower unit.<br /><br />It's tedious to get at, just be patient.

Thanks djohn19, I wasn't to sure if that was were it had to come out from or if there was some where lower than that, that it could break apart at. Thanks again.
