Good day everybody.
First post here. Recently I acquired 16' boat with Mercury outboard v6 175HP 1976' . It was a good deal money wise - motor is in good condition, trailer is good as well, boat, however require quite a bit of work. Floor and stringers are gone completely, transom is a question,
I pulled all side panels but got stuck with side mounted remote control unit. I cannot locate any mounting screws or other HW to remove it. Is that fixed from the back? Will attach picture if needed

you can't post pics. yet. not till five posts or so
IF....it is the controls i'm thinking of (with 2 levers) then it should be 2 to 4 screws/bolts that go through the front-covers(some are just bolts holding the cover to the back-plate

here a link that may help you (a little hard to navigate through)

Thanks for the answer. It is one lever type of the remote control with two trim buttons on handle lever itself and push button on hub of the lever (sorry for lousy explanation - indeed I cannot post pictures yet)

Great manual online, though. is there any way to download it and have stored locally ?

Much appreciated. mine is exactly as it depicted on page 3A-10, PDF document page 39. Now I can remove it safely.
Thanks again.
