is there a trick to removing the walkthrough glass? it looks like it would just come right out and i can't find any screws or anything holding it in. only thing i see is a black tab, but not sure if it just pops out. any suggestions?

Re: removing middle windshield

What boat? Also a close up photo would be a big help.

Usually center windows have a piano hinge, and a few screws hold the hinge to the sides. Another popular design is that the aluminum frame is extruded with half the hinge, then machined out to match the other side. If you don't see any screws, look at driving out the hinge pin to separate the window from the windshield.

the boat is a '99 caravelle 176. not a very common model from what i have found, but my window sounds like it's setup similar to the second one you described. i'll try and get a close up this evening, probably would make things easier than guessing. thanks!

Zup,
if you look at the picture i showed you of the snap placements, you will see, there is a pin slipping down (on the rightside) of the windshield, thats what holds the center windshield together,at least on mine.

Zup,
in your third picture, is just like mine push it up through the top, it should pull all the way out.
you mite spray some WD40 on it to help it slide out, put it down the top ,in the open middle and some on the tail sticking out the bottom.

if you look in the 1st pic that black plastic thing looks like a stopper. when i try and push it out that stops it. are you saying that will come out too?

i think the black thing is like a weather strip it should stay on the window.
the pin should just come out the top like it is out the bottom

See this pic...

Get some WD or PB Blaster in that track first...then gently tap upward on the bottom of the walk-through section...
