Removing outdrive trimmed up a little bit?

I would like to remove my sx-m outdrive for the first time. I have drained all of the gear unit oil. The service manual specifies to have the unit trimmed down fully. However, in order for me to get solid contact between my home-made dolly and the anti-ventilation plate, I would need to trim it up slightly (there is about a 1-inch difference in height between the back of AV plate and the front of the AV plate). Is it okay to remove the drive with it slightly trimmed up? If not, I am afraid it won't have solid support when I remove it.

Thanks!

As soon as you slide out the rod for the trim rams the drive will drop right onto your drive stand (watch your fingers!)

Meaning...better to trim it up a little and have solid contact with stand?
