Removing outdrive

My '87 Alpha is stuck! The inner race of the gimbal brg is coming off with the drive shaft- so far it is about 1"+ backed off- I have soaked the bearing and tried the "dropping the drive: approach. I did a search here and saw something about using a 2x4 and the hydraulic rams to pop the drive and gimbal bearing off on the shaft (so I can work on it) - but can't quite visualize how to do this- any advice is appreciated. Thxs.

With the drive in the Down position,<br />Block the Top of the drive, so it Can't tilt Up....<br />Now, Hit the Up Button.........
