Well, it's not the removal I'm concerned about...I'm good at breaking things!

I'm going to do a complete compound / polish / wax job on the entire hull this winter and I'm trying to figure out how the BIG (3" high) DORAL logos that are attached to the side of the hull. I'd like to remove them to get to the gel-coat underneath, and then re-install. Anyone done this before? Are they glued on or bolted through?

They're stuck on with 2 sided tape. Be very careful removing as the plating will crack if you try to pry them off unevenly.
I warmed them up then used a very small olfa knife.

The gold Doral logos are no longer available as they faded, and the chrome ones are.

Thanks. Now I'm debating whether to even put them back on..if it's just double-stick tape I'll just have a ghost image for a season or two maybe.

Thanks again for the info.

I just bought 2 new ones. I contacted Doral and they gave me the part number and a dealer to call. I got mine through Top Rack Marina in Chesapeake, VA. 757-227-3041

part #425-00-5139 $48.99 each

Yes, they are the chrome ones. They came in quick and once put on, they stuck very well. So make sure you have them level etc...

Yes, they are the chrome ones. They are made of plastic raised about 1/2 an inch and very shinny. They made quite a difference in the look of my boat. I got them from Doral through a Doral Dealer. The part number is in a earlier post in this thread.

I have a 1990 Doral Prestancia.

Chief...any chance of a picture?? 1/2" deep seems thicker than the faded gold ones I have. If they are the same size, I'd switch to chrome. There is a pic of mine upthread.

perfect...1990 they went from using the decal (like my 1989) to the chrome one, I believe on all models. I'll have to contact my local dealer. Thanks Chief.
BTW, if you need the 90 full line brochure, I have it on pdf.

Re: Removing plastic DORAL logo's?

Gromulin - I shrink wrapped the boat 2 weeks ago. I deleted the email I got from Doral with the picture they sent me with the information on where to buy them. I clicked on the contact us button on the Doral website and told them I was looking for the Doral Placard that goes on the side of the boat and couldn't find them anywhere. They sent me a picture of the part, part number and a phone number to a local Doral Dealer to order them. They took a week to come in from the time I ordered them. The paperwork said they were for a 2000 Doral. They were the same size just a little fancier than mine. They really look good.

JBF 1962 - I got the PDF for the 1990 line from Doral by doing the same as above emailing them through the contact us button on Doral's website. Thanks though. Again as above the back of the package when I got it said they were for a 2000 Doral, but they are the same size as the ones that were on my boat just fancier.

Re: Removing plastic DORAL logo's?

Chief, Thanks a million for the info. I'll contact my new friend Nathalie at Doral and get a pic, but sounds like they are just what I need, since mine is a 2001.
