Stil working on that old 1985 Bayliner Contessa from last winter. I've been working on the 280 outdrive and found out during disassembly that the vertical shaft had been sheered off, in order to replace that it seems I've got to get the prop shaft out.
questions/thoughts:
1) I've removed the zink anode and just have the two large allen bolts holding the propeller bearing in. What tool should I use to remove it? Do I need to turn it couterclockwise and somehow hold what remains of the verticle shaft in place to prevent it from turning?
2) It seems crazy to me that this thing would unscrew, it seems it has no play either way (see pic) with the solid aluminum of the outdrive case.
Thanks again in advance. The manuals seem to be failing me.
