I use a hair dryer or heat gun, but you have to be careful not to heat it too much or the paint will come up.

I have also peeled the number off making sure that the paint is not coming and then use rubbing alcohol to remove the gum paste. Just don't rub to hard.

A couple of other ideas---use the hair dryer--and use a single edged razor blade to carefully peel the decal off---or--- I've used zipp strip very carefully to loosen the decal and then use the razor blade to carefully peel the decal---either way--carefully is the key word--good luck--Steve

I got this tip for a product called GROG from a vinyl vendor at the Boat Show when it was here a few months ago. Here's a link to a video that may also answer your question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jILw0WcZxMU&feature=related

Good Luck - let me know if it works as well as they say. I already bought a bottle, but we're under a few more inches of snow... again. So, I haven't had a chance to try it - our boat is still in winter storage. I hope spring gets here soon - I want to get out there and fish!
