Well, I've got my floor cut and dry fit and it's time to start prepping the boat for fiberglass. All over the hull there is residual black rubberized foam that was the backing of the carpet and the glue that stuck it down. What's the fastest and easiest way to bring that down to bare fiberglass? I've tried my grinder and it works, but it's time consuming, I wonder if there's an easier, faster way. I have a ton of this stuff to get off.

A drill and a wheel wire brush.

How about an angle grinder and a cup brush? Thats what I used. It works faster than the drill deal!
Just be sure to wear gloves as the steel wire can embed in you fingers pretty good! Ouch. Make sure you have at least a dust mast as the little foam is going to be tiny dust.

Angle grinder with a knotted wire pancake brush worked great on my old boat. You'll want to protect yourself and surroundings appropriately.... those ultra fine particles end up everywhere.... glue/foam/carpet/resin/fiberglass.... PPE is a must-have.

used the wire cup on my angle grinder. The knotted wire type. Went through it like a hot knife through butter. Took me 2 hours to do the entire boat.

Oh and yeah. Gloves, goggles, and respirator are a must, as well as a long sleeve shirt. :) Thanks guys!
