I am replacing my carpet and furniture on my pontoon and would like to disconnect the steering and controls. Do I disconnect the steering at the motor? Any suggestions on controls and steerling. Thanks.

several different types just matters. Some will disconnect at the cable on rack and pinion or the roatary just matters and some wont. You can pull the tube on any of them I guess.

Re: Removing Steering wheel

To remove the Steering Wheel,......

Loosen the Nut,+ back it off to just above Flush with the shaft,....
Sit at it,+ apply Pressure with you knees in the off direction,+ Whack the Nut with a BFHammer....
It'll Pop loose,+ you can remove the Nut,+ wheel......
Then you can get to the screws that hold the helm to the dash,.......
Removing them should allow you to lay the whole thing out of your way......
