Hi All, Did a quick search adn really didnt find what i am looking for. If there is a post about this, please post.
Here is the link on my project. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=371911
Anyways, a few questions. I am looking to split my searay and remove the cap for ease of replacing the deck and stringers. Is it as simple as removing the rub rail, drilling the rivets, and lifting it off? or is it glued in any way?
What would I expect this cap to weigh with the windsheild attached? 17ft..... can a couple guys lift it off or not? If not, i have the equipment to left it but how fragile is it? can i put a strap front and back or will it create to much stress and damage it? should i run to 10ft 2x8s and make a lifting jig?
Also, those that can answer the above questions can probably answer these as well...... are stringers glued in place or are they just set and fiberglassed around?
and.... when fiberglassing the new deck..... can I use cloth? or is Chopped strand mat what i want? is one stronger then the other? How many layers of fiberglass and what weight do i want? Looking for a nice smooth floor to paint non-skid on later. Probably ordering everything from US Composites
thanks a bunch!
