Removing Thermostat cup?

Guys in the process of replacing the thermostats on my 89 evinrude 200hp I noticed the thermostat seal in the head was distorted. I am trying to remove the cup that holds the seal but am having no luck. I'm trying to drive it out from the inside side of the head.Does anyone have any tips for this?

The orignal cup was stainless cup with rubber insert, sometimes needs a little heat, new and improved cup only rubber.
