Hey guys (more specifically bruce58) how do you remove the shifter controls? Vintage 1996 OMC? I need re-upholster the panel? There's got to be a way to detach the handle from the body?

Thanks!!!'

If it does, peel back the center rubber and remove the white button. Then either push the lever into forward or back into reverse(don't remember which way) and an access hole will be revealed. You will be able to see a hex set screw that you will loosen to pull the lever off.

Yes! Thanks Bruceb58! Once again, you've come to the rescue...the hardest part was figuring out the little neutral button cover!
