renaming your boat

i'm reading a lot about a ceremony to rename your boat, is this true and does anyone know how to do it.

Hm I wonder what I am in for since our boat was never named by the previous owner? We have a name picked out though so our un-named boat will have a name this season.

It depends how superstitious you are, obviouly Posiden isn't going to send his minions to get you if you don't do it but it is tradition and is kinda fun and you get to drink so what other reason could you need?

it had a name but not one that i want for myself, because it was a name of a woman that i never had

Sound like its time to find a girl with that name and make it legit,that would be more fun than any ceremony. Unless that ritual includes both the drinking and .....

do the ritual and re-name the boat, ask any of the old salts about it, its an excuse for a party with a lot of tradition.

You've challenged Posiden:facepalm:... OK... PFD, kill-switch, lanyard attached... There's got to be an apology ceremony that'll appease Posiden and be... "kinda fun and you get to drink so what other reason do you need?"

PS: Better make it some high quality drink...
