Hoping that REO Trucks start-up actually happens.

They hired Frank Stephenson to design their new vehicle.
Body on frame.
180" (15') mini truck
unlocked gas engine , and no subscriptions
6 speed manual
Real 4 Wheel Drive
Tow rating of 4500# with the auto trans option
A/C
Bench seat
Crank windows
Analog gauges, switches and knobs
And the only screen is supposed to be for the mandated back up camera.
Most all of the components are to be"off the shelf"
currently available and DOT and EPA approved.
Kind of a Franken truck that will be assembled in Dallas.
Design to be unveiled in late November.
"Rolling chassis" to be available for all the big auto shows starting in January.
Promising 20 parts availability and designed for the enthusiast that
wants to customize their ride.
This is the truck Ford said they were going to build back in 2019, but
they built the Maverick.

There are some interesting interviews on you tube also.
AI rendering, maybe something like this ??

Or maybe like a 1984 Ford Ranger ??? ....(minus the oil slick in the photo) :)

Interesting.looks like a pretty good copy of 60’s C series Chevy truck front end. Always liked that look.

A simple / easy to maintain vehicle has a place in today's market.----As was the Ford model T in it's time.----Somefhing you can repair yourself or perhaps your neighbor.----But most " new vehicle " buyers do not care for the above.----Bells and whistles count more to modern folks.----

Toyota is currently making the Hilux Champ, not 4x4, selling it all over asia, for $13,000.

The $13,000 is likely a healthy chunk of coin in that market.----Vehicle likely built in a low cost factory.-----Not built to current North American standards.

Sorry not sorry I like my heated seat and steering wheel and XM satellite radio and a big screen and when I push on the gas pedal it goes fast quickly doesn't make more noise and slowly accelerate.

Then this isn't for you.
Work truck, farm truck, basic truck.
They are talking a double din radio slot , you pick your stereo, be it $129, or $3000.

Also talking headlight and taillight "modules".
Interchangeable with aftermarket options.
Cheap compact $100 light assemblies, tail, brake, side, and backup light in a single unit , similar to your boat trailer lights.

No $2300 headlights, or $1500 taillights like you find on the big 3 manufacturers.

As far as go power, they are talking turbo 4 banger, like the eco boost 2.3, or the chevy 2.7, or Toyota, something with 275+ HP.

What is the big screen for, other than more crop to break?

I'm thinking the 4-door model. Install stereo, remote start, and brake controller, remove rear seat and install dog carrier and gun safe. That's all I need.

Heated seats and wheel. sheesh Somebody is getting soft. :)

So, Roscoe, did you put down your $25 refundable deposit to hold your slot in the build process?

Or buy a vintage pick up that is proven. I would rather buy an old willeys jeep than a $25,000 side by side.
i told my wife that if we end up with any kind of real money form either of our folks i'm buying a fully restored truck, 60-70s model.
