Repainting 80's Johnson 15hp. Decal source?

I'm about to repaint the entire outboard and cover on my mid 80's 15hp. The graphics on the cover are pretty tired and need to be refreshed.
Are there any cost-effective methods of redoing the graphics on the cover and replicating the decals on the outboard? I'm seeing some decal sources that want more than $50 for decals. There's got to be a less expensive way....
Is there?

Measure the graphics on your motor now and take a good, color digital photo...go to the local sign/graphics shop and make a deal. $50 seems reasonable to me...can't take my family out to eat for less than that, seems like.

Though I haven't tried it, I've heard of people buying inkjet decal sheets and producing their own water-slide decals. I've always been curious about trying this method. I've wondered how well ink-jet colors will resist fading.

Most ink jet inks don't tolerate getting wet at all. I got decals for a 1938 Elto Pal from American Outboard for under $20 for the whole set. You might try them first (they have a website and phone number there also.

There are certainly other sources as well. You might try Ebay as well.
