So i plan on repainting my lower unit and cowling, and i had a question that i havent found answered (searched through tons of threads). my question is, when i spray the lower unit, do i need to prevent paint from spraying onto the intake things (where water is sucked in for cooling)? and if they do require special attention, how would i go about preventing paint from entering these areas? thank you.

no, not gonna get enough in there to hurt anything, I taped off the plastic screen on mine when I did it just because paint doesn't always stick to plastic but you won't hurt anything.

Make sure if you have any exposed metal that you get etching primer on it or the paint won't stick for long.

I mask any intake area off.
Just my 2 cents though.
