Will the lower unit come off by removing those 5 bolts?

15012, does it matter? Do those 5 bolts separate lower from the power head?

If all you want to do is paint it, why go thru all the trouble of taking it apart?

The bolts are easy. But then what do you do with it? You can't hold it in one hand and paint it with the other. Some kind of stand / support must be made to work on it.

The motor is already on a stand. Just tip it up and go for it.

Put it on a bench, can't anyone just answer a question here?

Another non answer
My reply was friendly. I don't know the answer, and apparently no one else reading your question knows either.

Since you know the model number, go out and buy a service manual and then you don't have to be snotty to people that are simply trying to help.

If you don't know how to buy a service manual, reply back and we'll lead you by the hand.

And.....I truly apologize for not being friendly this time, and once again not answering your question.

So i found a video by T-Mike showing this exact question . On a short shaft you need to remove power head to do the impeller. Those bolts release the power head from exhaust and lower unit in one piece. Mine is not a short shaft. Tomorrow!!!!!OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!!!

By the way, it's an Evinrude, and i have the Johnson manual. They're close but not the same.
