Repainting Lower Units????

[Regal-89]

I have an 89 Regal Runabout I/O, The lower unit could use a fresh coat of paint this year. I was curious to know if there are any special paints or techniques to repainting. Other than the obvious (ie.sanding, primer) Could you use an automotive paint? Also spray vs. roller or brush?

Just make sure you dont wirebrush it with a steel wheel or brush.The steel particules get imbedded in the alum. and cause a bit of corrosion.

scotch brite does a nice job in final finishing, use a high quality piece, less particules.
