I know you guys have probably discussed this over and over , but I couldn't find anything on it in the FAQ's . What is the all out best when it comes to manuals on Evinrude outboards ? I have a Seloc manual and I'm not too happy with it . Need something with more diagrams .

Re: Repair manuals

Try kencook.com for OEM manuals on older OMC products. For late models you will probably have to go to a dealer.

This is your best bet on a real factory manual, search his online store. If you can't find the exact one you need just shoot him an email. This guy has thousands of factory manuals at very good prices.

Re: Repair manuals

All good links on the manuals you fellows have sent . I'm shopping for price now . Looks like they are pretty much all gonna be in the same range with each other . I'm gonna watch e-bay for a day or two and see if I can get lucky , before buying full price . Another thumbs up for the forums . I've learned another valueable lesson . I didn't even know this type of manual existed . Wish I had found you all before buying the manual I've got . I'll be checking with the forums before I do anythig else / no doubt . Thanks again / Hope you all have a special day .

Re: Repair manuals

I have a Clymer, Seloc and a Factory Manual. I think that all have their advantages, depending on your outboard proficiency. When I first started working on my motor a few years back, I knew nothing of outboard motor operation, troubleshooting or repair. I found the Clymer/Seloc to be very helpful as their explanations are clearly intended for a beginning/non professional outboard mechanic. The factory manual is, of course, excellent, but the authors assume that the user of the manual already be proficient in the knowledge of outboard mechanics.
In hindsight, I am glad that I have purchased all three manuals, but I must admit that I rarely glance at the Clymer and Seloc now that I have a basic understanding of my outboard.

Re: Repair manuals

If you want to save a few bucks email the guy on Ebay that i gave you the link to.Ask him if he has a discounted manual for your year.He has some that may have a smudge or two on them and will cut the price down.
either way 40 bucks or so for a factory manual is the best money you will ever spend.

I agree with this. I have a Seloc and factory manual for both of my outboards. I always read both, and sometimes check the Clymer manual out from the library. The Seloc often has trouble shooting sections, the factory manual does not. You have to make sure that when it comes to actual parts, specs, procedures, the factory manual is the bible though - there will be discrepancies w/ the Seloc/clymer.
