Greetings,
I took possestion of a 1975 Johnson 115 that has been on the trailor for close to 7 years now. (got the boat\motor\trailor for free)It was supposedly fogged and lower unit oil changed before it was put in storage. I haven't had a chance to get this boat into the water this year and it looks like I wont be able to. Should I be concerned that the winterization wasn't done and go ahead and do it again? Can I refog this motor simply by cranking it without starting? I did a search but found nothing about refogging. I have the service manual for this motor and it doesn't really specify about how long a fogged motor should stay winterized.
Any suggestions?

fog it some more, more oil is more protection.

Roscoe,

So I can just crank her over without starting to fog it again? I wasn't sure about that.

I would pull the plugs and squirt some fogging oil directly into each cyl and turn it over - you will need to ground the plugs if you use the starter. Do the same squirting oil into the carb intake. Reinstalll the plugs. Change the gear oil to make sure there is no water in the gearcase. Drain any fuel in the carbs if not already done. Top off the battery (check water level & charge) every month or so.
