If I need to replace my engine for a 1982 26' Sundancer where would you suggest I go for the best deal? I plan to pop out old engine and in with new or used. Do not plan to use old parts.

Michigan Motorz has new, crated turn-key engines. They are pricey, but that is to be expected for a brand new engine.

If you are looking to swap, I would keep my eye on local area Craig's list for a good deal.

Are you looking for a longblock or a complete engine?

Re: Replace Merc GM 350

I just installed a chevy 350 in my 1983 Sea Ray SRV-210CC. I got it as a long block from Rapido marine (www.rapidomarine.com) in Florida. They had a good price, and I am happy with the block I got from them.

The owner's name is Raul, and he stands behind his product. Search other threads here for more information.

I've had my boat out once with the new engine, and I've got about three hours of use on it so far. No problems at all as yet.

What are the internal differences (if any) on marine vs auto small blocks?
I'd expect things like cam setup, distributor advance, and perhaps water pump...

The big internal differances between marine and auto engines are:
1. Auto engines have steel freeze plugs.
Marine engines have brass.
Easy to change.
2. Marine engine have a cam that devolps torque at a lower rpm.
The other differences are on the outside if the engine; starter, alternator, water pump, carb
