Replace or re-use water fuel seperator filter?

I have just the screw-on type water seperator filter with no drain valve on the bottom of it. Can I re-use this type of water seperator filter after emptying it, or do I have to buy a new one each time that I unscrew it and empty it? buy a new one, just like you do with your oil filter on your car.
