Replace transducer or just move on ...

Humminbird 170 shows Transducer not connected. This unit is going on 4 years old and it used primarily as a depth sounder. Replacement transducer is $65 with free shipping. New similar units are $100 to $150. Replace the transducer or just move on?

Chances are the transducer has given up, but it could be the FF head is what is failing . Do you have a buddy with a Humminbird FF using the same transducer you could test with by hooking up your head? Then you would know for sure.
