Update: I changed the fuel pump diaphram (and put in the block, spring and cap) and changed the check valves - that seems to have done the trick! I don't know if it was the diaphram or check vavles, but at least its working!
I was able to link & sync with no problems, have good hole shot and nice top end - I will know more once I load the boat up with people and run a few gallons through it!
