It had been 11 years since I last replaced it, so I thought it was about time even though the boat was cooling fine. Took it out and it still looked great...no cracks, still flexible. Yep, I know Merc says replace 'em a lot sooner. Just telling a story and relating my experience.

Actually what they say is
Every 100hrs or once a year: Disassemble and inspect seawater pump and replace worn components.
That was right out of a 2001-2002 Owners manual. My 97 Bravo manual says the same thing..... I don't know what they say now.......

I replaced one last summer in a GEN II that was new in 1996 (when the owner bought the boat.......I assume it was replaced in 96......it was a 94 model boat!!)......It was actually in pretty good shape!!
