Replaced Shift Cable throttle causing throttle issue

after changing my gear shift cable. Ordered the same model as before. Hooked it up the controls. Hooked it up on the motor end, it will shift into forward neutral and reverse but the throttle stops as soon as it goes into reverse. It won't budge. I tried making adjustments but if I adjust it the other way it does the same thing in forward. Motor is a 112 johnson. Boat is a Cajun. Both 1995. Used a cc205 14 ft cable. Not sure where to go from here as adjustments will not work. Any help you can give would be great. I can't find any info online.

Is it possible the cables are reversed?

after taking a few hours break of anger i went back out and examined it again. On the control are there were two slots for the cable to be anchored. one just above the other. when i say just above the other less than 1/4 inch. i anchored it in the slot above and it worked. i cant believe just that small change made that much of a difference.
