Replacement fuel tank source

Greeetings,<br /><br />I'm re-building my 18' Bayliner Capri and while I have the fuel tank out, I thought I would replace it. I've had problems with water making it's way into the tank but no fuel leaking out that I can tell. <br /><br />I went to Overtons and a few other suppliers but I can't find anyone that makes a plastic tank short enough. All the V-hull belly replacement tanks are 7.5 or 8 incles tall where the one I took out is 6 inces tall.<br /><br />Any suggestions on where to find a replacement tank or what kind of shop to call to have the existing tank pressure tested and repaired if necessary?<br /><br />thanks!<br />Jeff

I bought my new plastic one last year from Bass Pro. I forget the brand but it seemed everyone sold the same ones. They had a large selection of dimensions and shapes.<br />I wasn't aware of iboats at the time. I'm sure there are plenty to be had right here.

Go to the tank manufacturers websites (Moeller Marine, Tempo, Perko and Todd) and browse all the different size/shapes they make, write down all the part/model numbers that will work for you, then call a retailer (like iBoats.com) and they will give you a price on that part. <br /><br />The retailers only carry and display the most common sizes on their websites. They can order anything you need from the supplier, it might just take an extra week or two.

Miller's Welding in Clearlake, TX builds aluminum tanks for various Boat bldrs & does a great job of custom stuff- not as cheap as ready made. Of course, the shop is worth the visit, as its a museum of old OB's, race cars and other boys' toys.
