While removing "snap out carpet" to prepare for some salt water adventure, one of the self tapping snaps pulled out of the floor (fiberglass floor). Any suggestions as to the proper material to put in this hole that will harden enough to replace this snap. Thanks much for any suggestions.

Re: Replacement Material Help

Hey EatMoreFish, thanks for the suggestion. I'll go out tonight and try to find some. Maybe I'll miss the part of my night at home where I help the kids with homework.

Don't know a thing about PC-7 - I would use Marine Tex only because I have used it many times - expensive but hardens like steel. It is available in white and dark grey. Whichever you use I would mount the snap close by but not try to put in into the filled hole. One thing to prevent this from happening in the future is to kiss the female part of the snap with WD-40 or simular once in a while. Use this also for snaps on canvas or anywhere snaps are used for that matter.

Thanks for the help SoLittle. I was wondering if the filler would be able to adhere to the sides of the existing hole or if it would crack when I replaced the snap. By putting the snap close but not in the same place I guess I avoid finding out.

If you use the Marine Tex you should pack some into the hole, wait 5 or ten minutes, put some on the threads and screw it back into the hole. It will be as strong as ever if you let it cure.
